PRP for Aesthetics

The platelets and growth factors found in PRP have been shown to be exceptionally beneficial in rejuvenating our skin. When used for aesthetic purposes, PRP has proven to significantly enhance the appearance and health of our skin, by stimulating our body’s own collagen production, resulting in smoother, tighter skin tone and texture and a more radiant glow.

What can PRP Facials and Injection Therapy be used for?

Platelet Rich Plasma in aesthetics is used to regenerate the skin. PRP has also been used for several decades to help with natural healing. The most common conditions for PRP aesthetics therapy include:

  • Fine wrinkles around the eyes
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Fine lines around the mouth
  • Acne scars
  • Volume loss
  • Uneven skin textures
  • Sun damage to skin
  • Large pores
  • Hyperpigmentation

At Palmetto Clinics we do this with both Micro needling with PRP and regenerative product procedures.

Micro needling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of procedures is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. When performed with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) this dramatically enhances the procedures results. During the procedure, PRP is applied to the skin to stimulate the release of growth factors and cytokines.  This activates collagen production at a higher rate to rejuvenate the skin.

PRP procedures are often used in conjunction with micro needling procedures. While micro needling is used throughout the entire face, procedures are typically given is specific areas of the face that require deeper penetration to increase volume within the skin.

Our PRP micro needling and procedures work differently than cosmetic filler procedures due to our regenerative products and specific techniques. The micro needling and procedures of the PRP as with stem cell therapy work to stimulate cell turnover, increasing your own collagen, elastin; new cellular growth resulting in a natural, healthy skin appearance. By using the patient’s own blood there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or rejection  with stem cell or PRP proceduress.

What to expect during and following PRP Facial Injection Therapy?

Our practitioner will draw an amount of blood similar to what is required for a basic lab test. Your blood will be spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the other components of the blood. Then if you choose to use Cellular Therapy with Wharton's Jelly allografts Therapy, we will combine the products to begin the process of enhancement.

Numbing cream may be applied to the face to help minimize the discomfort of the micro needling and procedures. Our practitioner will target specific areas of the face with both the micro needling instrument as procedures where needed. The procedure will usually take between 45 minutes to 1 hour. After the procedure is complete our nurse practitioner will provide you with post procedures instructions for maximum results and schedule a follow up consult within 3 weeks of the procedures. You may resume most of your daily activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the post care requirements?

Avoiding direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time after the procedure is very important. If you must be in the sun, use a quality sunscreen that will protect you healing skin is vitally important. Our practitioner will provide you with further specific post procedures instructions to maximize you results.

What is the recovery time after the procedure?

Due to the nature of microtrauma that is necessary to stimulate collagen production in the skin, most patients will experience at least some level of visual skin irritation. You can expect some minor bruising, puffiness and redness of the skin, which all dramatically improves within the first day or two, and most patients will have fully healed after one week. The degree of irritation will vary from one patient to another and is dependent upon the level of microtrauma necessary to each skin condition.

How long before I see results?

Although, some patients may start seeing results in as little as 3 to 7 days, most lasting results will take 2 to 4 weeks to appear. As you skin continues to repair and new collagen is produced, your skin will continue to improve after each month that passes. Unlike synthetic fillers that break down over time, results from PRP facials continue to improve and last for up to 2 years. Some people have reported even longer lasting results!

How frequently do I need PRP facials?

This will vary from one patient to another. Some patients achieve their maximum results for up to 2 years after just one procedures, while other may need 2-3 proceduress to achieve their maximum desired results. The condition of the skin and the patients desired results will be assessed with our practitioner to determine the expected number of proceduress necessary to reach your desired maximum results.
